Japanese New Year Decoration: Shogatsu Kazari

Greetings from Kyoto

This year I got a modest ‘shogatsu kazari’ (lit. New Year’s decoration) for my front door and a cute little one for the beagle house. There are many kinds of Japanese New Year’s decorations. This one is quite common, it combines straw, fern leaves and a tangerine. I was surprised that it lasted so long, Rainy didn’t shred it until January 4th. She is getting so civilized!
