I dined at Chiran this evening for the first time in awhile. Recently I have been going to Hiro in Ponto-cho when I wanted yakiniku. While I think that overall, Hiro has a more interesting menu and better quality beef, Chiran is still the best Japanese Korean-style restaurant I know of in Kyoto.
Chiran’s bibin reimen (naengmyeon), a Japanese take on the traditional Korean cold noodle dish is the most delicious I have come across. We also had the grilled pork dish, samgyeopsal.
